At it’s very root, the science of hypnotism is needed because a person wants one thing but their subconscious mind seems to want something else and a hypnotist seeks to bring the two minds together.  For example, a conscious person wants to quit smoking but his or her subconscious mind lights up a smoke whenever the conscious person has a brief lapse of attention.  Why?

Why do you even have a subconscious?

Have you ever wondered why you have a subconscious mind at all?  Really, does it make any good evolutionary sense for Mother Nature to have created an inner intellect that is different from and often counter-productive to the outer intelligence?  Are there any other animals in nature that have this kind of inner/outer mental derision?  Could you ever imagine a dog for example, passing up a meal when hungry, because he didn’t want to gain weight?

Well, the dog certainly doesn’t have the rational intellect to equate eating with weight gain like a human does but the question here really is ‘why does the higher logic of man come with the price tag of divergent thinking between the conscious and the subconscious minds?  If you can think of any rational reason why evolution would have included a subconscious mind into our basic make up at all, please comment it too me.  I certainly can’t imagine one.

But we do have the two minds, regardless of how illogical it is for us to have them, so to understand, we need to approach the question from a different point of view.  In addition to Mother Nature’s agenda, let’s factor the wishes of eternity and our immortal souls into the conscious/subconscious  equation.

What or Who is Your Subconscious Mind?

Subconscious is the Mortal You

Suppose that the spark of ‘you’ that views the world through your eyes and interprets what you see, is not actually you residing in your organic brain.  Instead, this ‘you’ is really you the soul that exists primarily in your immortal eternity but which co-occupies the brain and body of a human creature.

Are you wondering if I’m suggesting there is a completely separate intellect with it’s own self-awareness?  I am.  I do strongly believe the subconscious mind has it’s unique personality and a perspective that differs from our own.  And there are aspects of our psyches that supports my opinion.

Have you ever been on a lengthy drive, when you suddenly realize that you have no memory of the last few kilometers?  Who was driving your car safely down the road during the space of time when you were so zoned out that you don’t even remember?  I say your subconscious took control in your absence.  I further suggest that the subconscious vice-president of your body often has to take the wheel for you, both literally and figuratively.

When an athlete like a gymnast learns a new move, he or she must drill at the physical demands of the move until it is engrained into ‘muscle memory’.  And what precisely is this ‘muscle memory’?  Do you suppose what is actually happening with this ‘muscle memory’ concept, is that the inner human has to be taught to perform the maneuver?  The human within has better control of the body workings than you do but your animal’s intellect is not so good at dreaming up the complicated tricks and contortions that the gymnast wants.

My last argument for the existence of a separate intellect is to ask you – Who blinks?  I can accept a physician tapping a nerve as being a physiological response, but the eyelids closing protectively in response to a perceived threat is more than physiological: it requires recognition.  In other words, the brain has been involved in the blink decision process even though your conscious mind was much slower to react.

Empower your Subconscious Mind

The whole point of this article is to suggest that you truly are of two minds.  The one mind is you, which is your soul.  The second mind belongs to the human animal that you are co-existing through life with and that separate intellect is your subconscious mind.  When you can understand and accept this two distinct minds concept as true, then a many of the ‘mysteries’ of life will no longer be ‘mysteries’: they will just be understandable aspects -and- many of our social problems that are actually rooted in our misunderstanding ourselves will diminish too.

So I ask Again – Does your Subconscious Mind Blink?

Human 2.0 is a new species that believes in reality, logic and truth.  Human 2.0 does NOT accept lies as truth.  Human 2.0 knows how to fix the utter mess that Human 1.0 had created.  Unlike Human 1.0, Human 2.0 is human. Human 2.0 will be the dominant species and there is NOTHING that Human 1.0 can do to prevent it.  Human 1.0 does NOT own the world: they are only bad renters.  Human 2.0 truly owns the planet Earth.
